You know those moments as an instructor… when you explain something to a student and they get it! Their face lights up, you can see they understand, they feel it… and something they hadn’t been able to do before – a smooth transition to canter, a balanced, steady rising trot, or maintaining good contact…. Now they can do it! Thanks to your instruction!

That feeling of helping a student get it is why you love to teach! It’s also what can be so frustrating when you can’t help them get that change…

When you can’t figure out what they are doing that’s making their horse pin his ears going into canter, or drift to the outside of the circle going right.

Sometimes you see what you want to help a rider change, but you just can’t get them to make that change… you tell them again and again, explain it every way you know how, and they still don’t get it.

How do you get through to this rider?

How can you help them make the change that you recognize will make a huge difference for them?

Or what if you struggle knowing where to start?

How do some instructors seem to have an almost magical eye for seeing exactly how a rider is moving and how to adjust them?

Imagine if you develop your own eye as an instructor, so that you could notice exactly where a rider’s weight was going, why they were losing their stirrup, what was causing their horse to throw his head up in the canter transition, or why the leg yield to the left always fell apart a few steps in…

What if you could not only see what a rider needed to change, but knew how to create it for them?
How to help them find that “aha” moment?

When a student is learning and having fun, your job as an instructor becomes easy. The student is excited to be making progress and you feel proud to be a part of that accomplishment. Everyone is happy!

I want to invite you to a special event. A training where you will hone your eye, learn to identify the unique challenges of each rider you work with, and discover how to take not only your own, but your student’s riding to the next level!

*Not an instructor, but serious about your riding?
We would love to have you Join Us!

This will be more than just an instructor’s course, however… we are holding this event in beautiful Nosara, Costa Rica, so you can relax and rejuvenate from your busy life and be able to concentrate fully on what you love – riding and teaching!

Wendy Murdoch will be your teacher in this event, pulling from her 30 plus years as a riding instructor, having taught clinics around the world and worked with thousands of riders.

Wendy take a different approach to teaching riding, by using novelty, props, and unique exercises to keep students curious and lessons fun.

She caters her work to each student, with their own limitations, old habits, and style of learning, and helps each person get the information and the feeling they need to create a real difference in their riding.

Wendy can do this not only in one on one sessions, but with groups of riders, and many times with only a few days to work with them.

Wendy is going to help you do the same, and you will come away with not only a big difference in your own riding, but also in that of your students!

EQUISOL'S HOLISTIC HORSEMANSHIP PHILOSOPHY
For Life and In the Saddle
  1. Live (and ride) in the present moment! Become a witness to your mind/emotions
  2. Live soulfully – Be kind, generous, loving, patient, honest and compassionate with yourself, others and your horse (observe the yamas and niyamas)
  3. Embrace a holistic view of horsemanship, the environment and your community
  4. Focus more on how you are living your life, not what you do or have
  5. Be healthy and get organized – Get rid of clutter and be goal oriented
  6. Find your balance – find ways to balance work, play, relaxation and exercise
  7. Be flexible – change is inevitable so look for the open door that is created with every door that closes
  8. Meditate and practice yoga
  9. RIDE! And sometimes just BE with horses and nature
  10. Listen to your intuition and your horse – he/she is trying to tell you something very important but you have to figure out the message
  11.  Tread lightly on this planet – recycle, reuse, minimize and respect the environment (e.g., don't disturb wildlife or take souvenirs from the wild such as shells)

About Nosara, Costa Rica

About Nosara

Nosara is a magical place that is best known as a mecca for yoga and surfing enthusiasts that are drawn to the area because of its natural beauty and environmentally conscious community. Nosara is on the Nicoya Peninsula in the State of Guanacaste. This area is known for gorgeous sunsets, consistent waves for surfing and warm water, howler monkeys, mass nestings of olive ridley sea turtles (arribadas) and so much more. There are many reserves in the area, so wildlife is still abundant and development on the beach is very limited. There are no big resorts or chain restaurants. It is the perfect place to reconnect with nature, horses and a slower pace of life.

Getting Here

Nosara is located on the Nicoya Peninsula on the northwest Pacific coast of Costa Rica. We recommend flying into the Liberia airport (LIR) which is about a three hour drive to Nosara. Transportation to and from the Liberia airport is included for all retreats. If you choose to fly into the San Jose airport (SJO), we recommend taking a short commuter flight here via Nature Air.

Nosara is a small town with limited paved roads. The town can be characterized as having two main beach communities (Playa Guiones and Playa Pelada) and the main town of Nosara which is a little more inland.

Our guests stay at The Finca, a 150-acre ranch with two villas, a jungle lodge and stables and pastures below. The Finca is about a ten minute drive to Playa Pelada and a twenty minute drive to Playa Guiones. When guests stay at the Finca, the horses come with us and stay down the hill from the villas.
